Hi, I’m Berit! Here are 3 facts about me...
01 — I’m from Baltimore, MD.
I grew up in a house that used to be a barn, which has given it all kinds of fun quirks. For example, there’s a door on the second floor that, if you’re unlucky enough to accidentally open it, would send you plummeting 10 feet to our driveway pavement (it was once used to push hay out to the horses).
My brothers and I would get into all kinds of crazy adventures here. This was the start of my love for children’s entertainment. Characters like Sokka (Avatar the Last Airbender), Velma (What’s New Scooby-Doo?), and Samwise (Lord of the Rings) were active participants in our adventures. They were as much a part of our lives as we were a part of each others’.
I fell in love with creating in Baltimore. I spent 4 years assistant directing Middle School Musicals. I had my first two internships in Baltimore, first at Center Stage theater and then at Roland Park Country School, where I created a video diary series that has accumulated over 5,000 views. While college has taken me to Chicago, and post-grad to NYC (two cities I love), Baltimore will always be my home.
02 — I speak a little Danish.
Or… jeg taler lidt dansk. My dad’s family is from Denmark, and we still have relatives there. During my junior year at Northwestern University, I studied abroad in Denmark for 4 months.
While there, I got to visit DR, Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. I spoke with a few professionals working on children’s programming. Did you know that, at night in Denmark, the children’s TV channel plays a program that shows all the famous characters sleeping? Parents can turn on the TV at bedtime and show their kids that there’s no reason to stay up! Even all their favorite characters are asleep!
03 — I am a huge Kenny Ortega fan.
I recently wrote an academic paper about the delayed renewal for his latest Netflix hit Julie and the Phantoms. The paper is titled, “Julie, Her ‘Phandom,’ and Their Unfinished Business.”
In my spare time, I’ve also learned choreography from all of his hits, including High School Musical, Disney’s Descendants, Cheetah Girls, and Julie and the Phantoms. However, if you were to witness this in person, I cannot say that you would recognize my moves from these masterpieces as I am NO Sofia Carson (long live the Evil Princess).

I am passionate about telling stories with strong, positive impact.
